Wot is 'adult commissioning'? Does he get paid to buy pron subscriptions for civil servants?Mike Boyle has been the interim head of adult commissioning at cash-strapped Southend Council in Essex since 2010.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014 -
Basically head of procurement for all adult services e.g. adult care. Fairly senior role given the amount councils spend on adult care.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostWot is 'adult commissioning'? Sort of a chief buyer / HR / PM then - someone who would be on maybe 60K PA in the private engineering sector. Or about £350 a day?Originally posted by Freamon View PostBasically head of procurement for all adult services e.g. adult care. Fairly senior role given the amount councils spend on adult care.
How can they justify £779 a day of public money for a role that is clearly permie?
Oh wait, they don't have to.

Because they manage to convince the gullible fools in the council that that is the going rate for someone who has to manage a few people.Originally posted by ctdctd View PostSort of a chief buyer / HR / PM then - someone who would be on maybe 60K PA in the private engineering sector. Most mid level managers on ~80K in the public sector believe their private sector counterparts earn 200K + humungeous bonuses, whereas in reality - someone with their skillset (spending money and spending money to justify why they should spend even more money) would be lucky to get any mid/high level job in the private sector, where income generation/preservation skills are far more important.Comment

Quite a few private sector companies here in NL are trying to get rid of 'mid level managers' altogether.Originally posted by centurian View PostBecause they manage to convince the gullible fools in the council that that is the going rate for someone who has to manage a few people.
