Quite a few private sector companies here in NL are trying to get rid of 'mid level managers' altogether.

Most mid level managers on ~80K in the public sector believe their private sector counterparts earn 200K + humungeous bonuses, whereas in reality - someone with their skillset (spending money and spending money to justify why they should spend even more money) would be lucky to get any mid/high level job in the private sector, where income generation/preservation skills are far more important.
