I was in the US while they were trying to resolve the Bush/Gore election. Some bloke in a bar said 'bet you guys <meaning Brits - why would they care?> are laughing your asses off at this?' I said 'no. just find it sad it's come to this'.

several times on this forum I have asked the collective economic genii why the country is not run in the same way that I run my domestic budget
i.e. try to match spending to income

Annual Household income - £21,000
Annual Household spends - £38,000
Annual addition to credit card - £7,000
Current amount on credit card - £142,000

Amount of spends that I have asked the missus to reduce, but she is fighting like heck and threatening all sorts of dire results if I just dont stfu - £40
