Getting fed up of trying to arrange things (pubs, clubs, go-karting, anything...) with mates and they're all skint (they are all in "normal" jobs).

What should an IT contractor do in this situation?
It is an issue. I'm very lucky to be very good at what I do and in turn get paid tulip loads to do it. I can't say many people spent the last 7 years of their 20s on 100k+ without working in the city.

I have friends who can't afford the rent while I know I could buy thier house with the cash I have sitting in the bank but you can't offer it save for offending them and throwing your cash around. Probably the reason I spend so little and drive and 8 year old car with 200k+ on the clock....helps me blend in to "normal" society.

Wow...that makes me sound like Dexter.

As per our resident socky, the advice would be to blend in, i.e. don't show it off unless you're in a group of friends/relations who are fairly well-to-do.

When dining out with friends, avoid those who calculate their exact share of the bill and insist that 50p tip for the waiter is far too much.

        Skip having mates.
Top Tip #1 have better understanding of how counting works so you will never be skint yourself!

I found most of the insanely rich to be not very nice people.

I've lost track of the amount of times I've dined out with well off & exceedingly well off people who display the #53 characteristics
I believe if you are well off or comfortable you should spread your wealth around a bit, so I tend to over tip or make up for those in the party who do not feel so generous
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

I worked for a company where the director was a stinkingly rich guy with millions. He still expensed all his expenses to the company and it included 50P for crisps, 90P for parking, £1.05 for coffee etc etc. I was very sure if he had bought something for a penny he would have included that also in his expenses.

Probably why he is a millionaire and most on here are not!

If you want to know what God thinks of money look at those he gives it to.

Agreed! But it's not on when you give e.g. £5 tip, then someone else in the group see's that as a £5 reduction for their part of the bill
