Derives from Latin gens (from which, together with forms of the cognate Greek word genos, also derive gene, general, genus and genesis). The original meaning of "clan" or "family" was extended in post-Augustan Latin to acquire the wider meaning of belonging to a distinct nation or ethnicity. Later still the word came to refer to other nations, 'not a Roman citizen'. After the 'Christianisation' of the empire it could also be used of pagan or barbarian cultures.Comment

She spoke too much and pretty much every member found it difficult to figure out what she was talking about.
Fear not though, her sockie will soon be here ( or already here). When she makes her appearance it wont be difficult to recognise her.Vote Corbyn ! Save this country !Comment

I don’t think I ever really wanted kids, coming from a large family I helped raise the younger ones to the point that when I left home I just wanted to have fun.
I did just that to my 30’s then got all sensible & went to uni, got a profession and a career rather than a just a job, after 7 years I have just finished my academic studying.
In the last 3 years BGG got diagnosed with MS, this year I got diagnosed with MDS.
So kids never really happened, I don’t miss it, it’s just that life went a different way.
But the thing that annoys me the most is the automatic assumption (normally by total strangers) is that as a female there must be something wrong with me for not wanting kids & I have missed out on life’s greatest gift.Growing old is mandatory
Growing up is optionalComment
