If a manager wants to diminish the potential for language misunderstandings when hiring, that's his gain.Comment

I don't mind working with Indians and they don't mind working with me. In fact when they work with me people tend to comment 'Here comes the Cowboy and Indians' :igmcWhat happens in General, stays in General. You know what they say about assumptions!Comment

You'll usually find that the best spoken Indians have had the best education, attending either an international or boarding school before going on to one of the top universities.Coffee's for closersComment

First telephone conference with offshore team at my new gig. this morning. Couldn't understand a word the Indian developers offshore were saying, but thought it was best to keep my mouth shut, at least for now. No sooner had that thought crossed my mind when the onshore Indian developer sat at the side of me started interrupting the entire offshore team - every thirty seconds - complaining that he couldn't understand a word they were saying.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostWe had the Head of IT India over at HQ for a few months. Sterling chap, super bright. Could only communicate in writing, as none of us could understand a word he said - far too fast and quiet.
Contracting these days is about learning how to sit back and have a good laugh - and then invoicing for it.
