My sitting room, once full of flowers and ornaments, is piled high with brown parcels, as I post off my student books, catalogues of fashion exhibitions I loved, DVDs given by ex-boyfriends, and novels I bought to be a different sort of woman (but never had time to read). It’s shaming — and perplexing — in equal measure. How did I get here?
By being frigid between the sheets is my best guess!!

Don't see many of them freezing to death, and the fact that they've got their hands outstretched means someone is feeding 'em.

          Not so tough IMHO.

For my birthday in August, my little sister gave me cash to settle my newspaper bill. She runs her own IT consultancy and understands the volatile job market — but she’s always been more sensible than me. She made provision for the lean times. How I wish I’d done the same.
              Did anyone notice this?

A pity you're not standing in line.

No... but that was my point - the only thing in her life which has changed is that she now earns less than she did....

so unless you do change your luxury outgoings to cope with the fact you no longer have the same income you will quickly get into debt...

I was just wondering why she found it such a revelation that she had no money when it is quite obvious why she does not

oh yeah and she probably does not take it up the Oxo tower which is why she has only just found a bloke

I think the point of the article is that she has changed. She has had to.
