Buying A Used Car - Main Dealer Service History

I have now chosen my replacement car, 3 year old Mercedes and to be MOTd. Ticks every box, except that service history has not been with Mercedes, albeit at regular required intervals. First service was by Mercedes, next two haven't. Is this a cause for concern / deal breaker ?

Depends on the garage. Specialist Merc garage not a problem, Fred Bloggs dodgy backstreet garage may well be.
merely at clientco for the entertainment

Check that the warranty is still valid (if there is a warranty)

Is it an ex lease or private purchase?

I get "fined" by the lease company if I hand back the Merc without MB dealership servicing stamps
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

There were rules introduced a few years back by the EU which stopped manufacturers making you go to them for servicing, in order to keep the warranty valid. Have a look at who has done the servicing on the 'net and go from there.

It will probably depend on the model as well; what have you bought?

Pro; Specialists are sometimes better than the main dealers.

Con; If someone's gone local to save a few bob, what else has he scrimped on?
...my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...

They do have to use genuine parts if the warranty is to be maintained; I am sure you can see the receipts which will show you what parts have been used..
