If there is any 'reward' for looking after a child that isn't yours, then its illegal if you aren't ofsted registered.
Are you saying it's a bad thing to have child minders registered, you obviously childless numpty?
And in any case your assertion is not quite true.

Not necessarily a bad thing, no, but there are so many things that are heavily regulated and therefore very expensive, and I have to wonder whether society can afford them all.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

I have children. I just don't like creeping over-regulation. If I decide that someone is fit to care for my child, that should be between them and me.

I don't understand why you feel the need to insult every single person on a thread that may possibly have a different opinion to you; probably formed from having different life experiences. It doesn't make you big or clever, just a bit unpleasant.

If anything needs heavy regulation, it's surely care for children.

It's obviously very apparent that childcare costs are crippling the country somewhat, how did they ever manage in the old days?

I don't understand why you post utter crap: you can look after children without being Ofsted registered, legally

Women stayed at home. The cost of housing and rampant inflation means that two wages are now often required.

Indeed, perhaps if you had needed to obtain a licence as a result of being found suitable to care for children, maybe you wouldn't have been permitted to breed.

That is assuming your offspring aren't simply another of your massively long list of Walter Mitty fantasies which you post here on CUK.

I didn't say that you can't. I said that if there was a reward, then you have to be ofsted registered. I then posted a link to the ofsted web site which contains their own factsheet.

                      From which I quote:

"The law usually requires people to register as childminders where they provide care for children under the age of eight in their own home or someone else’s home (not the children’s own home) for more than two hours a day for reward."

It then goes to give examples where if money changes hands, the carer should be registered with ofsted.
