There are some horrible post industrial age cities in the UK, but most have some kind of redeeming feature. Birmingham doesn't.

Costs £5.50 to avoid it - bargain IMHO."A life, Jimmy, you know what that is? It’s the s*** that happens while you’re waiting for moments that never come." -- Lester FreamonComment

South birmingham is quite nice, lots of parks, decent schools houses that are still affordable, etc etc and an hour away from Wales. Also useful if you contract as there is a lot of the country you can get to in around an hour.Make Mercia Great Again!Comment

Aye. I work South BHam. Lots of not so nice localities, which is to be expected given it's size maybe.Originally posted by BlueSharp View PostSouth birmingham is quite nice, lots of parks, decent schools houses that are still affordable, etc etc and an hour away from Wales. Middle child just gone off to uni in B'ham (Aston end). 2nd night there, the halls was broken into and lots of nasty stuff happened. We weren't impressed. But she's been there a few weeks now and says it's not as bad as she feared.
Went to a nice pub in Brum once. The Old Joint Stock. Then went to another down the road which, alongside the usual condom and tampax machines, sold disposable vibrators. No, I did not buy one. (I didn't have the requisite five £1 coins...).Comment

We went to the Motor Show in Brum one year and couldn't find any decent beer.Originally posted by mudskipper View PostWent to a nice pub in Brum once. The Old Joint Stock.
