Buddhism is not a religion... it is a non-theistic philosophy and practice.

Mahayana and Vajrayana schools hold the Buddah as just a smart man who figured out some things about human existence, the nature of suffering, how to be free of suffering ,and that any human being can achieve this wisdom.

The cornerstone of the Buddahs teaching is that you should not believe in anything whatsoever which does not make sense to you, including his teachings, everything must be questioned until you arrive at the truth of the matter.

There is no conceptual Leap of Faith in the Buddhas teachings, it is all very practical.

The Buddah means the Awakened One ...So WAKE UP !!!

The Buddha you think of was a thin man. The fat or laughing buddha is The Monk with the Cloth Bag, and he probably wasn't fat either. The fat bit is to do with a play on words, having a "fat stomach" means to be a nice guy in Chinese.

It was a throwaway line intended to be slightly humourous.
Refer to 'the Buddha' and most people assume 'the Monk with the cloth bag', so that reference, while inaccurate, was the reason that it was humourou.........
I give up, you're all racists anyway...

Hey fellas, and other non-gender specified persons,

When will you folks wake up and realise the Chico is not really a god-botherer ? He's just another alt who gets a kick posting contentious drivel for reaction. Like the rest of us.

I've met proper god-botherer's in my time and none, bar none, are as deranged as Mr Chico. He has gone over the top with the idiom, and in doing so, exposed himself. (customary "ooer missus" inserted for people who suffer from post double-entendre anxiety fulfillment)

Chico....time for a new idiom please. You have gone as far as you can go with this one and the jokes are really tedious now.

How about a carpet-munching post-modernist disabled political-activist feminist non-caucasian social worker who raises gerbils ? I'm sure there is plenty of milage in that.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I have said it once and I will say it again - I want all posters to be saved. I want Great Britain to return to the days where the name of Jesus Christ was honoured where the Who's Who of Christianity read like a British phone book. Where are the modern day Wesleys, the Newtons, the Livingstones? Lets go back to the days were God blessed this country it had to take the name GREAT Britain, where we built a world empire, where we were the biggest economy, the richest and at the same time the safest where as you went into every town, village and city the first thing you saw was the church spire, a time when we loved our God with all our hearts, minds and bodies and we loved our neighbours as ourselves, a time when foreigners would come and adopt our faith and not try to impose their religion by the sword. Is there hope? Yes - the Bible says if a nation repents and turns to him he will bless the land. (Jeremiah 18)

Newton is believed to have been a homosexual schizophrenic. He was also a rather nasty piece of work, who successfully stole the credit for discoveries from a rival, the great scientist Robert Hook, by waiting for him to die before publishing his own great works and not giving credit to the other man. Newton's Rings were first discovered by Hook, hence the name.

Livingstone is a left wing tosser who fancies newts and hates private transport.

Are these really people to admire?

Oh, yes, and the Great in Greate Britain refers to the size you dipstick ignoramus. Then again, religion never did base itself on any facts.

Oh dear - did you mean Greater - if you did then why is not referred to as Greater Britain? Oh yes these isles are very big aren't they? You have just described yourself. Next.

do you actually have any fscking clue what you're talking about?
Do try and find out what life was like for people in the ages that the church ruled. Lawless and savage doesn't come into it. You really are a brainless fsck, I can see how you would easily fall for some snake-oil peddlar's lies. Moron.
