Sometimes violence might not be morally correct but I guess it is understandable.
I would not go so far as to say it is never morally acceptable to initiate force - I have done it before when I thought I was about to be attacked and felt quite justified in doing so.Comment

In this instance, he was banged up for an attack based on a groundless suspicion. Turned out, it wasn't groundless, and therefore he did have a mitigating circumstance (the law does recognise that people sometimes act out of character when they're upset), and so his sentence was reduced appropriately.
However, he still has a criminal record, he's still working out his sentence, so his act is still recognised as bad. Just not as bad as just beating someone up for the heck of it.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment
