Then if he is all powerful he could teach humanity all of the required lessons etc without causing harm, suffering etc. He could also design humans such that they do not do these things to each other whilst keeping free will etc intact. He could do all of this as he could do anything.Originally posted by speling bee View PostThen maybe God is outside of logic. Then he is all powerful.
Also, the sacrifice of Jesus was not a sacrifice as he can simply create other dimensions where Jesus's death was not required and spend time with him then.
He could also create a far better and happier world than this whilst still meeting his objectives and is simply chosing not to - if this God is real I would definitely not worship him.Comment

Yes he could. How do you know what his objectives are?Originally posted by MyUserName View PostThen if he is all powerful he could teach humanity all of the required lessons etc without causing harm, suffering etc. He could also design humans such that they do not do these things to each other whilst keeping free will etc intact. I don't but I don't need to. He could meet them without causing harm and suffering as he is all powerful.Originally posted by speling bee View PostYes he could. How do you know what his objectives are?
Therefore all of the harm in this world is being caused by his choice (he could do anything without causing any harm at all as he can do anything) - this is not a God I would worship even if I believed in him.Comment

He isn't causing harm. He is giving free will, and then humans cause harm. But God so love the world that he sees his own blameless son suffer on the cross and take on mankind's sins, so that even though humans have caused harm through their sinful misuse of free will, they may be saved.Originally posted by MyUserName View PostI don't but I don't need to. God could have done this without sacrificing anyone or anything - he can do anything as he is all powerful.Originally posted by speling bee View PostBut God so love the world that he sees his own blameless son suffer on the cross and take on mankind's sins, so that even though humans have caused harm through their sinful misuse of free will, they may be saved.
Jesus was not his son as such and was not sacrficied as he rejoined God in heaven for eternity, not really the same as my son dying and me never getting to see him again.
Even if Jesus did die and God lost contact with him then God could simply get him back exactly as he was and lose nothing - he can do anything as he is all powerful.Comment
