To help in gaining intelligence perhaps? Has it ever occurred to you that some people from places like Somalia would actually quite like to help catch the bastards that have turned their home towns into warzones?

Well that's true, but if you've got to select people for intelligence work you always risk employing one who isn't entirely honest about it. If you want to catch nasty people, you'll have to deal with nasty people.

Non UK nationals aren't eligible for those roles.

I believe that's true for DV roles but it definitely isn't true for SC.

I was at a large government organisation and they were getting foreign nationals British SC. I was talking to one of the bobs over lunch and he told me he wasn't British and I told him he was it was just an identity thing. But then he explained to me he wasn't British at all and a failing project in a different government department was bailed out by getting foreign nationals UK SC which set the precedent.

This was the last time I worked in a government environment because I'd thought up to this the lower pay was made up by the fact that the work couldn't be offshored. Now I know better.

I thought someone posted something about one of the big outsourcers having a govt contract that is mainly offshored and due to the setup the only option was to get the Indian guys SC cleared which was given the go ahead.
