It reads as though the pc olny filed the report to cover his arse in case toady decided to complain, also there seem to be several witnesses.

He really should have owned up. Seems he'll get away with it for now but it will come back to haunt him I expect.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

It's the swearing that's the problem.
Calling a copper a pleb is merely descriptive, just like I call some people on here cretins.
It's what they are, cretinous plebs.
        Hard Brexit now!

I hate to admit it, but I find myself agreeing with SB here i.e. the Police haven't exactly covered themselves in glory of late, with many being arrested for taking bribes, many admitting to have doctored official statements (which would see a pleb arrested) and even up to yesterday, a policeman removing official seals of the doors of a car in which a gun was said to have been found.

In every walk of life, there are people who simply aren't to be trusted, and the expense scandal highligted this. However, there's something about the Police Union chap getting involevd with this that stinks of the Police being Jobs worths there.

I used to respect the Police, but since growing up, realise they will always, always stick up for each other, including lying. Those that don't, somehow don't end up with succesful, or long careers in the police force.

          Edit:

If the Telegraph has a full release of the log, then someone's also leaked that. Someone obviously in the police did it.

              And the saga continues...

              http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-20775071

Channel 4 News alleged the police officer posed as a member of the public who witnessed the row in which Mr Mitchell was said to have called police "plebs".

Mr Mitchell has always denied using the word but has admitted he had lost his temper and swore at the officers after they refused to let him cycle through the main gate to Downing Street.

A spokesman for No 10 said of the latest claims: "Any allegations that a serving police officer posed as a member of the public and fabricated evidence against a cabinet minister are exceptionally serious.

I watched it last night, and to be honest, it was shocking. There was no one at the gates to witness it, nothing was said from the original spat at the gate, to the side gate, it was over in seconds, and a policeman sent an email in, purporting to be a member of the public who witnessed it, with a crowd of people.

                No one was there.

It appears someone was hiding the CCTV footage to cover themselves.

A meeting between the Police federation and the MP was recorded, and the PF didn't know. Out of the meeting, the PF said he still hadn't accounted for himself and his position was untenable. The recording clearly shows him stating his account of things.

The police will not come out of this with any glory associated; they've fabricated evidence, and seem more than a little bent in order to get this chap out.

It's like the bad old days of the Police returning.

When this story came out I was against the police. But since that nice policeman let me off with a warning last night for going through a red light I have changed my mind. Mitchell is wrong.

Not sure where you get that from; it certainly wasn't even hinted at in the report last night. The CCTV images were released by the Cabinet Office, and there's no reason to suppose they haven't had access to them all along.

The really interesting thing about this latest turn of events is that the Cabinet Secretary himself was appointed to carry out the investigation into the original affair, and never even uncovered the fact that the "member of the public" was in fact a serving police officer. One can also assume he also never bothered looking at the CCTV footage which pretty clearly contradicts the "member of the public"'s account. Still, as former Cabinet Secretary Sir Humphrey Appleby said, "The Prime Minister doesn't want the truth, he wants something he can tell Parliament."

And Mitchell still admits to swearing at the police, which would get most people locked up under the Public Order Act (Section 5 IIRC), so his judgement and self-control (not to mention manners) are still suspect.
