Tesco's certainly doesn't have a monopoly, they are simply the market leader.
How many large supermarkets are there in this country?

What are the planning laws like in this country?

Is it corrupt for a minister or councillor involved in planning allowing a supermarket to build a large store in an area, then a couple of years later be a paid consultant or a director of the same supermarket?

Can't you just point out where you think i've gone wrong? That would be much easier.

Free market capitalism is the most effective way for human beings to live without fighting wars or living in abject poverty (socialism does that)
Why dont the left (most of who are direct beneficiaries of free market capitalism) accept that capitalism is good but the challenge is to make it work for everyone.
But we don't have "free market capitalism".

We, like most Western countries, have a government that intervenes in the markets to stop things like pollution, environmental damage, death of workers, dangerous building, over building etc.

            Nope.

              A) Sainsbury's, Tescos, Morrisons, Asda, Aldi, Waitrose, M and S. The supermarket industry is an example of a healthy and competitive market. Profit margins are around 7/% i believe.

              B) Sounds it, but if the gov is saying where a shop is allowed to build in the first place it's not really free market in the strictest sense.

Why don't you move to Somalia? And Robby too.
They're far more "free market" than we'll ever be.

No, i'm not reading through the massive post trying to speculate where i've gone wrong. I am probably right so i won't find anything. And i suspect you are just saying this because you have a tenuous point and you're hoping i won't bother to challenge it.

If you have a point, just say it. That's how most discussions work.

Otherwise just admit you don't' have a point.

So let's say there are no planning laws and tesco build a superstore in an area of oustanding natural beauty, say Devil's dyke on the South Downs.
How has the "free market" helped human happiness?

Or you could have a clear point, "...just run the equations..." and then wiggle out of it when challenged, eh?
You must be a troll or a moron - I'm not sure which, and I can't be arsed to find out.
After all being a cretin doesn't make you unique on CUK.
