It is. But you are away from things a bit. It is a good laugh actually being there.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!! -
I fancy Glasto as well. (BTW - Im older than you).Originally posted by ChrisPackit View PostA friend and I are thinking of breaking our Festival cherry next year at Glasto, but we will be 38 then !! Already got a money making scheme in the pipeline by taking the Range Rover and towing the stuck-in-the-mud cars out at £50 a pop
Hope we can hack it. I'll be leaving my slippers and the Horlicks at home that weekend, but don't like to be in bed past 10 though
Camping and the toilets aint cool mind. Cant imagine how bad it'd be if it pisses down as well. And unfortunately, the campsites (at V at least) seem full on young belle-nds.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

So what are the chances of getting tickets? Is it just a case of registering and hoping?Originally posted by chef View PostI've been going for several years now, Glasto is IMO the best atmosphere of all festivals. I'll be there next year for sure, well assuming I manage to get through see tickets terrible booking system.
Don't forget to register if you haven't already, ticket day is Sunday October 7th.. good luck
Or is it a case of day of sale trying to get on web site?Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

We camp at Isle of Wight & Glastonbury but never fancied it at V, I camped at Reading in my youth but last time I went (knowing what youngsters are like) we hired an apartment!Originally posted by psychocandy View PostIt is. If you don't want to feel too old Glasto and Isle of Wight are a good bet, Reading/Leeds is just for the kids these days.
Planning on going (and camping) to Camp Bestival next year as this is supposed to be very child orientated, good reviews on Mumsnet.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

Yeh. V Fest is full of kids to be honest. Some older people there and to be honest, we had a good time making new friends with some of them.Originally posted by gingerjedi View PostWe camp at Isle of Wight & Glastonbury but never fancied it at V, I camped at Reading in my youth but last time I went (knowing what youngsters are like) we hired an apartment!

BUT, like you said, young kids on their first weekend away from mummy dont mix with campsites. And the state some people leave the toilets defines belief.
Prob try Glasto next year to be honest - maybe campervan again though.
Always wondered about kids as well. My boy is 8 and is dying to go. V Festival - no way too many knobheads there.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

We camped at Download this year and I enjoyed it and I'm old! We did Sonisphere the year before and Download the year bofore that. Friday was a washout! Travel was a mare as it took me many hours to get out of the car park. i left the arena at 10:30 pm and arrived at the flat near the dome at 5:15 am!Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

Festival toilets are a nightmare. At Sonisphere there were a few that were so full that they had a mountain of poo comming up out of the seat. People must have hovered above the crapper to drop that one on.Originally posted by psychocandy View PostYeh. V Fest is full of kids to be honest. Registration is mandatory and takes a few days to process so you have to register well before ticket sale day. tickets go on sale at 9am sun oct 7th, at that point phone lines and 'see tickets' website open and as there is usually 700,000 or so ticket demand but 450,000 tickets available then its a case of redialing the engaged phone number and refreshing the website that is most likely showing 'server error' if see tickets are their usual bunch of idiots and will later blame "unexpected demand" or at best a "you are in a queue and this page will refresh in 30.. 29 .. 28 seconds", hit F5 try again until you get the Booking Page.Originally posted by psychocandy View PostSo what are the chances of getting tickets? In the last 5 years of festivals I've never once got through on the phone. They also store a cookie on your machine so that once you get through once and end the transaction a simple page refresh brings you right back to the booking page again and bypasses the holding page so you can then book tickets for everyone you know. So it helps to book in groups of people you trust from different IP addresses and have some sort of msn group chat going on to alert the others if you get through and then swap registration codes/post codes and card details to get the tickets booked. That has been the most successful way of doing it to date. On the day only a 50quid reservation amount is taken, the rest is debited sometime in April (i think).
All details are on the glastonbury festivals website.
HTH
EDIT: and the typical age range for a glastonbury goer is between 8 days old and 80 years old.. although over the last few years there are more of the Chelsea set turning up "ya yaa'ing" down their phones dressed as though the were going for a shooting expedition but thankfully these are still in the minority overall.Last edited by chef; 21 August 2012, 14:00.The proud owner of 125 Xeno Geek PointsComment

Why on earth would someone pay to spend a weekend like that.Originally posted by BoredBloke View PostFestival toilets are a nightmare. Is it some fetish thing I don't get?
