Have had a couple of issues with one of the other contractors on the team who we will call Bill. Basically he is the junior business analyst and general dogsbody.
Question is, should I raise it with HR and try and get him removed, or just say "not my problem" and accept that some people are lazy/volatile.

As others have said this could be linked to you finding out that others are paid more than you.
Maybe you feel you are better than them and you are acting out. Your ego is damaged you are trying to belittle them to make yourself feel better.
From the outside this does not look good, it is more likely you will be shown the door. Maybe you need to talk to someone.
