Funny that the people banging on about how great it is to be British are the very ones who deemed patriotism unacceptable.
Depends which Britain you're celebrating I suppose.
You get the impression that London 2012, marks year 0 of the culmination of the Nu Lab rainbow nation project.Comment

I have to say that was awful..
Punk skipped completely, no glimpse of Kate's Bush, everyone's vocals low in the mix, most singing off key (Suggs!!) Bowie represented by one of his worst songs (any song with 'beep, beep' in it must be rank), no George Formby tribute, Gary Glitter strangely absent - Muse, what was Matt Bellend doing - had his legs gone?
The Who sounded best (mix better) but it's only half-Who now, and Townsend looks like a vicar now. He didn't smash his Strat, in fact, he cleaned it and carefully put back in it's case before a quick cup of tea and a kip.Comment

1 too many songs from George Michael. New song at the Olympic closing ceremony, No thank you.Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostFreedom. Good choice.
What is the rest of the dross he's doing.
Definitely not as good as the opening ceremony.Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.Comment

To be honest not really. As background music while surfing the net it was fine as something to watch it wasn't worth the effort.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostI watched about 1 minute in total. Did I miss much?merely at clientco for the entertainmentComment

Closing ceremony was alright, just as bonkers as the opening one.
Music might not have been that great but infinitely better than most other countries can do.
Is this the most succesful Olympics ever? It could be, if to use that cliche, the legacy is sustained i.e. the East End is permanently regenerated.
I think its already a success in that it provides kids with some better role models than they have already.Hard Brexit now!

David Beckham and Boris called out for you to personally come out and take a bow. Chico from Big Brother had to take your place.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostI watched about 1 minute in total. I think the best thing to come out of this is what is shows kids in terms of role models. Instant Celebrity is dead, hardwork & dedication is what it's all about.Originally posted by sasguru View PostClosing ceremony was alright, just as bonkers as the opening one.

That was fvcking toss. The Spice Mums with chav spice screeching all over it all. How to make really bad songs infinitely worse! 80% of take That. One Erection, Brain May doing his best Anita Dobson impression while Freddie spins in his grave while that warbling witch murders his song. Eric Idle was easily the best.
They said that this would be like a wedding reception. I didn't realise that them meant it...right down to the crappy DJ with pi55 poor speakers.
The little light things they had around the stadium was the best bit and the Angels who were on stage with Eric Idle.Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.
I preferred version 1!Comment
