IMHO, there is nothing wrong with what thye did. The point of any sport is to win, if losing one game makes it easier to win the gold medal then it will always happen, i would have done exactly the same. The problem is the format of the tournement if it allows players to get an advantage by purposly losing

Actualy the object of any sport is to bet the other guy. The object of professional sport is to make as much money as possible by winning at any cost.

        Guess which approach I prefer...

There is another angle to this - some people bet a lot of money on these games

If they are capable of throwing the badminton, whats next ?? the javelin ??

Well, they've just been chucked out of the games for "not using one's best efforts to win a match".

It must have been easy to prove the charge by just watching them.

Might be time for the Chinese players to consider applying for asylum.

BBC Sport - Olympics badminton: Eight players disqualified

The Badminton World Federation has disqualified eight players after accusing them of "not using one's best efforts to win".

Apparently the BWF blazers were warned months in advance that this would happen given the tournament format, but took no action. Sounds a bit like the RFU blazers, the UCI blazers, etc etc; don't listen to people who know what they're talking about, just follow the plan and watch it all go pear shaped. Anyone would think it's being run by IT managers.

                      Good.
We don't have to save the world. The world is big enough to look after itself. What we have to be concerned about is whether or not the world we live in will be capable of sustaining us in it.
