WHS - I once wandered off from a cash machine without actually taking the money. But I later found out it whisks it back in if not taken within about 30 seconds, and despite this happening in central London my money was safe.

That's how I know, but was too embarrassed to admit I withdrew cash and then walked away without taking it, realised my mistake and walked back only to see the money being pulled back in just as I got back to the machine.

On NYE 1996, I went to a cash machine and there was 200 quid sticking out of the slot. Great night, great times...

no as clever as Indian mob that spent a whole easter weekend emptying ATMs in centre of Glasgow of £460k around 6 or 7 year ago. 3 * 17hr shifts with £400 transactions every 20secs..........
