Straight from my business manager, who in other parts of his email stopped just short of offering to drop to his knees and pleasuring me... This is apparently a letter being issued today.
Dear Mr x
I would like to update you on the technical problems that RBS has experienced across our UK and Ireland operations in recent days and to apologise for the disruption it has caused to your business.
The original fault, caused by a software problem that meant customers' balances were not updated correctly last Tuesday and on subsequent days, has been fixed. We made a lot of progress over the weekend dealing with the backlog of account updates, but there is still more work to do.
Teams have been working around-the-clock and we are cautiously optimistic that RBS and NatWest customer account balances will be largely back to normal tomorrow.
A number of diarised Faster Payments and Standing Orders from Friday still need to be processed and we currently aim to clear these as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we do not expect Ulster Bank's systems to have caught up until later in the week.
Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to minimise any further impact on our customers and to ensure that the same issues are not faced in the future. We appreciate your patience as we work through outstanding issues.
I want to reassure you that your business will not be left out of pocket as a result of these technical problems. We will release further details on this later in the week.
In the meantime, I would be happy to answer any questions you may have and again, on behalf of RBS, please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience this has caused.I didn't say it was your ******* fault, I said I was blaming you!Comment

IT bug ? the least of their problems me thinks. A lot of their policies are hopelessly flawed.
OK it's not RBS or NatWest but get this ...
Tried to open a new bank a/c at HSBC a couple of weeks ago to act as a vehicle to receive maturities from an overdue overseas investment.
Told 'em I didn't want a loan, didn't want credit, didn't want an overdraft.. We're talking a maturity of some £300K + penalties. Apparently because I wouldn't be depositing a minimum of £500 each month into the a/c, I'd need to open a sole trader a/c instead ! Errrr ... how narrow minded is that policy ? So they went to apply for the sole trader.
It was then just like a scene out of Little Britain with the David Walliams character.
"Computer says no." Alright, the screen said "Reject" but same thing.
I'm sorted now with the next bank I approached.
After I noted HSBC Holdings are in hoc to the UK tax payer to the tune of £35 billion after their own brilliant overseas investments all went belly up. And now they're to be sued by the US Gov't for gross mis-selling.
Their response. A potential customer seeking to place substantial deposits with them are turned away ! It seems to me it was I who had a lucky escape - I wouldn't trust these lunatics with 20p now. And these are dangerous lunatics because they truly believe they're really clever and know what they're doing !Comment
