I am not convinced that putting barriers up to Poles becoming Security guards, or raising those barriers for security guards is the issue, there should be a barrier for every security guard who is not right for the job. A barrier Pole or no Pole

far better attitude and speak clear English

Thats the problem, thats why people started using polish builders because they were fed up with the british version, not turning up poor workmanship yada yada yada.

If they wanted to stop this happening they should have done it 10 years ago when they opened the gates, so you may has well get used to it, its not the pole/lithuanian frenchman thats at fault its the system that allowed them to come here in the first place, although that does mean you can go and get a job/claim benefits in lithuania

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to EternalOptimist again.
You should be writing answers for PM's Question Time. Brilliant.

I don't think a pole is an adequate barrier. A pole can serve to demarcate some boundary, but is no use as a barrier if not accompanied by bars affixed to said pole. Indeed, the combination of pole and bar can be referred to as 'gate', and may in the context of an adequate 'fence' or wall be a very acceptable but movable barrier. However, my Lithuanian colleague refers to the combination of poles and bars as 'a disaster waiting to happen'.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

You could kill a motorcyclist with one of them. Get rid of poles and put up proper five bar gates.

It's the governments fault for cutting back the armed forces. It was always a guarantee that when you left the army after 21 years service that there was a gold plated security job waiting for you at Tescos to say thanks for serving the country. That or homelessness.

It's a bloody disgrace. Bet there's even foreigners taking up the park benches of our heroic ex serviceman now!
