Wouldn't have a dodgy, bodging, Brit, ever.
Wouldn't go near them with a barge pole. Had several issues with Eastern builders and no longer use them. Once asked a team of renderers to chip off old platers and re render. Told a neighbour to keep an eye on them, all they did was chips a few holes here and there, polybond it and start plastering.

Didn't pay the feckers and got soemone else in, who took their time and did a proper job.

And don't start me on their understanding of Building standards

Well I've met Abdul as I was inquiring about a MSc and he's a solid chap, very helpful and pleasant to do business with. I'd vouch for him.

    WHS+1

Universities are struggling with overseas student numbers because of recent visa changes. They will only go to Canada or somewhere else and pay good money. They want to come here as we have some of the best universities in the world. I’m all for them coming here. The vast majority will be genuine, just need strict controls to weed out the ones who start messing around and if they clearly aren’t studying, send them packing.

I did security work whilst in college, does that mean ...

Someone better tell Mrs A. and the kids.

So the best security guards would be insane psychopaths?

People like that make the best security guards. They are paid to keep suspect people out of the place, so traits like friendliness, helpfulness and openness to reason are negatives. The language barrier is a bonus barrier.

There is a good bit about that in Kevin Mitnick's "The Art of Deception".

The problem with all this hard working migrants vs lazy Brits crap impied by some above is that, if you actually bother to check the stats, the white British are not at the bottom of the heap. In crime, health, unemployment, welfare, social housing, academic acheivement - white Brits are generally behind the Chinese and Indians but ahead of Eastern Europeans, Bangladeshis, Pakistanis and blacks. One has to wonder, if migrants were all so fantastic when they came here, when it all went so wrong for some major groups. Or, shock horror, was the PC view largely utter bollux in the first place?

So our young people expect wages commensurate with the norm for an advanced Western country, rather than having to compete with those from developing and third world countries who will (for a little while) settle for much less. How very unreasonable of them! So why aren't you buggers happy to work for Bangalore wages may I ask? Of course people expect to share in the prosperity their own nation has created over the centuries, not compete with desperate beggars from the backstreets of poverty stricken nations.

Low paid foreign workers mainly benefit greedy employers, not the nation as whole. The taxes paid by a security guard, waiter or cleaner probably do not cover their share of state services like police, defence etc. They often cannot afford to have a family without resort to welfare. We are in effect subsidising many pointless and unproductive businesses, tiny unprofitable ethnic restaurants, data processors for junk mailers, cold callers etc through the welfare system. Propping up British Leyland made more sense, at least that company provided valuable exports and its employees spent their money in Britain rather than sending much of it abroad to the benefit of other nations.

The only migrants we should take in should be high earners, £50k+ I reckon. Anything less than average wage (£35k) may raise the GDP but not GDP per capita, which is what matters. Over-population has a negative impact on housing, road congestion, food supply, energy + water supplies etc etc and on our quality of life that demands compensation well above that.

Despite the provocation I stayed calm. To avoid any repeat of this sorry incident, at least I've transfered the car park sticker across to the other car as mine's shot to bits according to the garage...

I had to borrow Miss Rose’s car (doesn’t have client car park sticker) as the engine warning light lit up last night on the way home on my car.

Surely there must be 1000’s of brits with the skills to do this work and have a far better attitude and speak clear English. I’m not against immigration where there is a skill storage but this is getting beyond a joke.
