I am agreeing with most of your sentiments. As a young man, without cares, nor family, I loved it. Was a great place to get laid, get drunk, and have fun. I also hate english winters, as they've become. However, if they got back to the ones in 2010 and 2011, they'd be much better, as it's the damp and grey I don't like, not the cold.

But to say it rarely gets above 30, isn't really the truth. That's all I am saying.

Most poms come to Sydney or Melbourne. Usually Sydney, since there is more work, certainly in IT. If a pom comes to Sydney, they (at first) want to live near the beach. Therefore, they will not be living in the hot areas that are out in the western suburbs where the true blue Aussies live.


The places you have worked are not where most people go and live. Certainly not IT workers. Darwin and Adeleide are places people check out for a weekend. Poms coming here do not tend to live in those spots. There is hardly any IT work.

You said Summer lasted 6 months, not warm days, so now you're moving the goalposts. 3 years, plus a futher 8 months isn't limited experience. You seem simply to be someone who wants to be right all the time, hence the constantly narrowing geographical area, and changing goalposts.

Sydney 2011 There were 24 days above 30 °C during the year, the highest since 2006, of which 5 reached 35 °C

Sydney has 15 "beach weather" days (over 30°C) Melbourne has twice as many.

I've only been to them once or twice in 10 years. I know many many poms in Sydney, I don't know a single one ... not one ... that lives in those suburbs you have listed. A pom is more likely to move somewhere like New Town or Balmain, not Rose bay, Vaucluse and Coogee.

But my point stands, You are saying 8 days all year, yet you had 24 last year, you said 8 days, and the average is demonstrably 15 days, according to Australias own Met Office. I lived there from Summer 87 through to Autumn 90. I also lived there from Oct 2002 to May 2003. It was hot then too.

Your summer of 2008/2009 was ridiculously hot.

If an Australian said he'd want to live in Manchester, I'd think he'd also mean the surrounding area too, and suggest Didsbury, Chorlton and warn them about Wythenshawe. Lots of places in Sydney where Poms live. I know.
