      A new program idea. Make me 40 years younger?
      Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

        An entry on the sex offender's register can be for one of three time periods:

        Sentence > 30 months = indefinite
        6 - 30 months = 10 years (or 5 if under 18)
        < 6 months = 7 years ( or 3/5 if under 18)
        Caution = 2 years (or 1 if under 18)

        I don't think that the conviction is ever considered spent though. If he is spending a certain amount of time working with children then he would need a CRB check which (theoretically, at least) would catch it.
