At what age do you plan to retire?

I would hope to retire from what I do now by say 55, but I would want to do something after this with less pressure etc, no idea what though.

I would then hope to work until I cannot do anymore, I think work and connection with people keeps people young, added that I do not expect a state pension, if I get one, great, but it is not included in my plans.

I reckon in 20 years (57). Everything will be paid off and I should have a decent amount in the bank by then.
Depends on how things work out though. If everything went well I'm not staying in work just to feel useful....I'm going exploring, climbing and diving around the world with mrs VM

A proper contractor will have been cleaned out by the missus in a messy divorce by then.

I've retired two days per week indefinitely.

Why retire? I want to die in a blaze of drink, cocaine and high class hookers so will need to still be young to enjoy it

I assume you made it multi choice so those who mess up and retire too early can choose another when they start working again

I think the bigger danger is that the government will inflate away their debts and savings/pension income get wiped.

Having said that, I've 7 more years to go until 55, and I'm not sure if I can put up with contracting for another 7 years; still, at least it would pad out my contracting career to a nice round 30 years.

Are you me? I am also 48 and started contracting at 25.
