    FTFY

Benefit spongers are also industrious, they work hard to breed and work hard to switch on the telly and work hard to surf the channels, I dont want them to think they can find "work".

How do you account for a substantial increase in unemployment?

If you are of an industrious nature then you'll never be idle.

That for me, makes me shudder with the "the world you live in" arguement from before.

Try that in the North East, or any other "old" mining town.

People don't trust their neighbours anymore and mowing lawns and washing cars isn't lucrative at all. You're likely to get smacked canvassing for work.

Even the packing factories and call centres have been closing down in recent years. In Sunderland you've got the Nissan factory and thats pretty much it for job creation, everything else is downward (Unless you are educated to degree level).

By the way, I've been unemployed from contracting due to illness and no one would hire me even for a part time job at Sainsburys - this "forced work" from the benefits office hasnt helped either - I know people who got their hours cut at Asda at christmas (no overtime that was usually there) to facilitate this.

Take a look at my high street, its almost 80% charity shop and voluntary work.

I've derailed the thread though - regarding the video, its terrible - but hasn't this been the UK high street (after a big football match) for years? I'd be suggesting this is football related yobbery.

It was fine when we took the canal boat through in 1989.

What could have possibly gone wrong since?

And it always coincides with economic crises?

At least you've ruled out stupidity as a cause.

I blame the airing of shows like "Shameless" that glorify fiddling the benefits etc.

Never miss an episode, it's brilliant

First - watch Idiocracy for the end game, its extreme but funny.
Second - Bouncing benefits at these people is the price we have to pay to stop them rampaging the streets. If you want to know what it would be like, look at the riots or walled communities in SA or Brazil with people living in fear of the hordes outside. Give 'em enough to pay for tabs, ale and sky and we can get on with our lives.
Third - There just isn't work available for the numbers of people with no/few skills anymore, it's all gone offshore and won't come back.
It's not going to change, earn enough to move somewhere nice and forget about it....
