We've got a system that seems to completely devalue all the trades, manual labour and skills. We DEMEAN children from almost the first year at school as being useless if they are not mentally gifted.
Marketing is a monster to children nowadays, studies have been done on this and some of the findings are very alarming.
I grew up during these times and Wigan is a great example -
I think the cheap buck we earnt in 80's decimating, in particular our coal, raw material and manufacturing industries; we've paid for many times over by increased social disorder, lack of respect and lack of hope that many of the less gifted *cough* worker *cough* members of our community seem to display.
If you want a really good test case, look at South Hetton in County Durham or Dewsbury in Leeds. Parents became so hopeless and angry with their own opportunity that they passed that on to their kids.
Not having 2 parents at home (as it does take 2 to make ends meet if you dont take benefits) - is a factor, sure - but I think more in middle classes than we wish to acknowledge.
It may sound like im excusing horrible behaviour, I'm not - I'm condeming horrible behaviour in the name of capitalism, that sees people as consumers or resources - not citizens.
The worst thing I've seen recently is in middle class Maidenhead - I really hope this isnt normal
"Positive Steps" a nursery to give children the best start - ACCEPTING 6 weeks old children and people taking them in their big people carriers and maserati's.
Christ almighty and we wonder why ......

Shoot a few in the face with tazers, teach them to mind their manners.
I have little time for the disgusting scum and would happily see them spend a few years in a forced labour camp. (preferably somewhere in the congo or the middle east)Comment

Where you are born isn't what you are. We may have been poor but we were tought manners and respect for others. Often with a leather belt or a cane.
Where you were born is not an excuse and shouldn't ever be used as one. These are just scum families by choice not circumstance.Confusion is a natural state of beingComment

But seriously - these days people are taught that the nanny state will do everything for them. People need to learn that they have to take some responsinility for themselves. We don't have long before China totally overtakes us.Comment

This DM article is just the tip of the iceberg as I bet this kind of behaviour happens all over the place and has simply been highlighted by some dim wit who had the bright idea of filming it.
Wigan is as good and as bad as many other places. Has nice areas and sh!tty ones too. I've been here for 35 years and experienced all types of societies, but no worse than many of the other northern towns...Comment

Couldn't agree more. It's the feckless entitled underclass simply thinking life hasn't been fair to them. Fecking idiots; life isn't fair to street kids in Calcutta, to families looking for scraps of food and tulip to sell in the slums of Lagos, not for the entitled benefit scum living in Dewsbury; if life aint kicking it for you, do something about it, or top yourselves; you're a waste of resources otherwise...
Labour have scuttled this ******* country by giving people no hope, but a sense of entitlement.
The more days pass, the more I hate them you know.Comment
