Read somewhere that leaving stuff outside for people to take is quite fashionable. Darn good idea too, why waste things by chucking them away or taking them to the dump?

Works both ways too, my wife found a really nice coffee table while she was in London last year, and the woman was really pleased it wasn't going to end up in a dustcart.Comment

In Oz, they have 'council cleanup'. The council sets a date when it will come round and collect your junk. You stick it on the kerb a week before, and people help themselves. My sister acquired quite a decent sofa from it. They do it twice a year.
Excellent idea - gets stuff recycled, and, because the council collects for free, stops fly tipping. Think I had to pay about £30 to get the council to take my old suite away.Comment

Maybe I'll try a sample of the wood, have a pile of it, this evening and see if it goes, someone may have a wood burning stove they need kindling for.Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.Comment
