I reckon that those caught using sockies in anger should receive punitive action, such as wiping rep, then post count and banning in extreme cases... but that's just my tuppence.

It's true that the interweb is anonymous, you shouldn't believe everything you read , etc etc, but some people do need to find a place where they can chat to their peers.
And as long as they are inoffensive, why should some loon on an ego trip be allowed to get away with bullying them out of pure malice?

How's about changing the rep algorithm too, for instance giving serial (prolific) reppers less rep power and likewise less rep power when repeatedly repping the same person.
