Cisco low-mid end kit isn't exactly hard to figure out if you're in the tulipe, at least to the point of getting a route out to the internet. If that doesn't work, you've always got a laptop to plug into the outgoing ethernet / router.

          Solve it with Google

Quote “If somebody has a network problem, I can solve it with Google.”

This was a real life network problem.

50 user network running Ethernet thin-net . The network drops out every day but 15 minutes later than the previous day. (eg: Monday 12:00 network fails, Tuesday 12:15 Network fails.) Each time the network is down for an hour and comes back online without intervention. All servers and workstations are running and do not fail. Please solve.

If you give up I will tell you the answer.

Very good! Almost there, the building is on the sea front. What is 15 minutes late each day?

It's thinnet, not rocket science. On summat that size When the network falls over you trace the cable runs and check the connectors and terminators untill you find the one that has been kicked, disconnected, broken or in this case suffered water ingress and replace it or move it as nessessary.

Once you've done that you present the client with a proposal to upgrade them to the 20th century and install a decent ethernet network to replace the prehistoric rats nest they currently have.

I'm stunned Thinnet even still exists.. what pre-historic org are you working for?

I'm presuming from their upkeep with modern technology that they dont yet have a website, or even TFT screens, are they all still running win98?
