Halal Meat

Because the animal rights lobby spent years making sure slaughter houses were cruelty free zones (I know) and a set of rules were introduced. Many slaughter houses had to spend lots of money making sure they operated within the law.
Now it seems that you can avoid said law by setting your place up as halal (or <insert method of choice here>).
If halal is acceptable then all slaughter houses should be allowed to use this method. It is that simple.
We either insist on animal rights in all slaughter houses or we agree that halal is the minimum standard.

Animals have rights? Who is running this planet...them or us. We're quite happy to torture but to kill to put food on our plate now has to be done in some softy mushy way so that we all feel comfortable with it.

This is hypocritical. By eating Chinese food you are basically funding a country where there's absolutely no respect for human rights and then you make such a fuss about animal rights. Why don't you come clean and say you would rather give the money to the Chinese than the Pakis?

Kosher is done in a similar fashion and is just as barbaric. There are other methods that are also allowed I believe but would be hard pressed to name one.
Now get this most arguments are about the fact that there is a difference between halal/kosher and legal requirements for all others. It is halal and kosher that are making the demands here, the rest of us just want parity.

Also are you are aware countries like New Zealand kill their meat in a Halal way so they can export it all over the world as some of their biggest importers are Arab countries. So some of that New Zealand lamb you have been tucking into for years is Halal.

The point I'm making is you are making a fuss about something you have been happily eating for years.

Though to be honest having seen how they keep livestock in the US I rather eat meat from New Zealand regardless of how it's killed.
