make sure you are parked in a secluded area, like down the side of a hotel opposite the airport in Port Headland Western Australia, Australia.

keep a tissue to wipe the drool off your chin

Drove through this tulip tip on our last trip there. 50 degrees. Horrid place, hotter than Hades.

I have a 4x4 and even with the seats collapsed its not comfortable - although being 6'5" doesn't help

I've never slept in a car. And that's because I could
always afford somewhere to sleep because I'm not a peasant, dumb enough to breakdown or run out of petrol and always planned my return trips home.

I think you've transposed those numbers shorty.

I am only 6' and have tried sleeping in my 4x4 and the floor's just too hard. Seats designed for comfy long distance travel don't help either.

Says the man who's planning on sleeping in a bouncy castle.

Which may be a brilliant idea. An inflatable mattress might work better than hardboard as it will level out quite a bit automatically, perhaps with minimal filling in gaps such as between rear and front seats, and will stow away much better than a length of hard board, which to be honest would have probably have had to be folded near the middle anyway.

Best suggestion yet. Might be a goer. Any other ideas?

If you're going the inflatable mattress route I would suggest you consider the 12v Gelert Hurricane 4 Inflator / Deflator

Hmm, my natural man-tendency is to view inflating a mattress as a challenge to be completed as fast as manually possible, but I guess it could get quite boring and drawn out <recollections of inflating childhood inflatable dingy come to mind>.

inflating / deflating nightly is no fun - ask Shaunbhoy about his missus
