The use of EBTs was never a problem, it was paying the money back when the taxman ruled against them, ( Celtic never even got that far, they paid up to the taxman during the player's contract when they decided they were dodgy)

Also Celtic posted his correct contract to the SFA, that is why you are getting titles removed.
That is the salient point, unfortunately it seems Rangers didn't do this when registering several of their players.

But who knows, the SFA wouldn't remove all those titles, would they?

Celtic declared it in their accounts that they were paying into an EBT, but not to the SFA

They are one and the same thing, if a player receives money from an EBT is not part of their official contract.

The talk of stripping the titles come from illegible players, not unpaid taxes
It's actually quite easy to separate:

        1) if the EBT is contractual, HMRC get involved and hammer Rangers or whomever.

        2) Rangers allegedly made the EBT's contractual using the side letters, BUT did not declare them to the SFA.

        3) IF Rangers had declared the full EBT to the SFA, then there would be no talk of stripping titles. This would have been completely contractual however and we would then have no defence to HMRC.

Why the investigation tribunal has not came back by now though is anyone's guess. It is wishful thinking on my part that if it was as cut and dried as everyone says then surely they would have ruled against us by now.

And for what it is worth, it is my humble opinion that Craig Whyte, shyster that he is was banking on us being found guilty last November when the tribunal was supposed to rule, forcing us into admin, and liquidation back then. Then it wouldn't have been "his fault".

After that didn't happen, his "plan" was fooked and it all collapsed like a pack of cards.

While I have dragged this back up any excuse for the mayors letter to celtic...

"I am writing from Seville to you on the excellent behaviour, good fun and good manners shown by thousands of Celtic supporters during their stay in our city.

"You should feel proud to have fans such as these in Glasgow who give their city and country a good name.

"I would like to send publicly the congratulations of the City of Seville to the fans and, in general, to all the citizens of Glasgow.

"We hope to see you again in Seville on a similar occasion, when you will surely be luckier on the playing field."

It looks like the players will be liable but the verdict is 145 pages and I have only skimmed a bit of it.

I think it also sets up the removal of their cups which was good of them.

It might be in a football thread but this ruling could be quite interesting with regards to EBT stuff in general.

Kind of looks like they have pushed the payments onto the 'employees' for recovery.
