True. Many lie or won't tell their nationality.
Some (African) countries refuse to recognize the citizenship to prevent the deportation of the illegal immigrants.
In some countries, the money wired back home by these immigrants accounts for a large part of the GDP.

They probably went to Britain from France so they should be able to find their way back
