No, as someone above has pointed out, Great Britain is the name of the largest island of the British Isles. It includes - and it will always include - Scotland.

It would still be the United Kingdom.

The definition would become the United Kingdom of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Thus the party name UKIP would still be valid.

OK I see your point... it's named as such for geographical reasons rather than border reasons so it's unlikely to change.

Nevertheless, the name United Kingdom can remain so long as the definition changes.
It's about time I changed this sig...

If UKIP stood any chance of getting in power they would be infiltrated or bribed by the people who run the country and end up like the other main parties. The elites aint that thick.

To some extent, although I think my new definition is snappier than yours:

United Kingdom of most/some of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or the Not quite United Kingdom

What do UKIP/BNP think about Scotland going their own way? "England for the English" doesn't sound very Scot-friendly after all...

They say its a sign of madness doing the same thing again and again expecting a different result.

This is why I can no longer voter for any of the three main parties. They do not represent me or what I want, though they may say they will until they are in power. (Current government)

The UK is already a backwater. THe future is in Asia.

The United Kingdom could rename itself to the United Kingdom Independent of Proles.
