    I was thinking of the specific ORA-00000 exception:

    Code:
    -bash-3.2$ oerr ora 00000
    00000, 00000, "normal, successful completion"
    // *Cause:  Normal exit.
    // *Action: None.
    Code returns an exception, with a message "Normal, successful completion".

      As you say, Oracle makes the whole debate moot with it's no_data_found exception anyways...
      If the database you are talking to returns an ORA-00000, though, you get an exception even though the call has completed successfully

      Suity, being the Oracle guru that he is, was obviously referencing such a scenario and everyone else was too stupid to realise.

        Its years since I saw one of those. I guess most data classes listen for it and simply ignore it.

          Well it was certainly a masterclass in playing dumb. For a while there you had me convinced you were as thick as pig tulip.
          While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

            I thought people just took that as read nowadays.

                We don't but it gives us another reason to attack him. So the mob is happy.

                  Oh don't get me wrong I still think Doodab is a cowboy coder. Anyone that discusses implementing try catch blocks that don't handle exceptions on an internet forum is asking for that.

                    You were, unfortunately, the only person discusssing such things.

                    Don't you have some security holes to leave gaping?
