Firstly, I agree with GJ, this has become a santimonious witch hunt. Far beyond the offence.
Secondly, if you dislike and don't respect a bloke and everyone knows it, you'd be accused of being a hypocrite if you then shook his hand. Wayne Bridge, Rio Ferdinand and Anton Ferdinand refused to shake hands with John Terry without any criticism, which is their right, so why shouldn't Suarez refuse with Evra?
Lastly, didn't FIFA president Sepp Blatter get widely criticised for suggesting that footballers should just say sorry and shake hands if they make inappropriate comments in the heat of a game? Shaking hands was wrong then, so why is it mandatory now?
Anyway, it seems this pre-match shaking hands thing is only good for showing up people who don't like each other. Other than that it's a meaningless waste of time and should be kicked into touch.
