Bosch are made in Spain yet my very old Hotpoint dishwasher came out the Bosch factory in Germany, appliances aren't always what they seem.Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson -
Interesting (well not really interesting), ours is the same... usable but unpredictable. Similar deal where they'll fix it but charge us... likely to cost about 50% the cost of a like-for-like replacement.Originally posted by Cliphead View PostMonths out of warranty. Guaranteed fix by the manufacturer for £140, hmm.
Did a wee bit of investigation on the 'net for possible causes based on symptoms.
Twenty minutes effort with a £10 part and job done.

This thread sounds like one of those deals from PC world, you buy the printer for £20, replacement cartridges £80 a pop.

It wouldn't finish a wash cycle so just churned around for hours until reset. The symptom pointed to a dead water heater, tested with the meter and sure enough an open circuit. Local dealer sold me a new heating element for a tenner and a few minutes to replace, there are even videos on YouTube showing you how to do it if you're not confident.Originally posted by d000hg View PostInteresting (well not really interesting), ours is the same... usable but unpredictable. I read of similar relating to oven heating elements the other moon. People bin (or get a man in, which may cost more) an otherwise perfectly serviceable oven when a cheap and commonly failing element can be easily replaced.Originally posted by Cliphead View PostIt wouldn't finish a wash cycle so just churned around for hours until reset. After I bought a washing machine many years ago, I often wondered why it was called Indetulip.
My current dishwasher takes about 4 hours to cycle. The water inlet valve is calcified so it takes ages filling up. Another diy job I'm not looking forward to doing. If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.Comment

Thats your own fault for all putting them in the kitchen at the same time, they're bound to start talking!Originally posted by BoredBloke View PostWe had the perfect storm in our kitchen a while ago when the dishwashe, tumble drier and the washer all packed in within about 2 weeks of each other.Coffee's for closersComment

Actually you are wrong. The drier and washer were in the newly created utility room, away from the kitchen and both predated the kitchen itself. The diswasher only went in when we have the new kitchen fitted. So all 3 were different ages and 2 of them could not talk to the dishwasher unless we kept the door to the utility room open.Originally posted by Spacecadet View PostThats your own fault for all putting them in the kitchen at the same time, they're bound to start talking!Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

I was constantly buying spares for my Bosch washing machine and Tumble drier to keep them going during 7 years of ownership, before I junked them both & bought AEGOriginally posted by DimPrawn View PostIndesit are the cheapest junk on the market. Serves you right. If you aren't buying Miele, Bosch or other German quality, what do you expect?
Washing machine was 1 x water pump, door seal & lots of carbon brushes replacement
TD was always the plastic connector bar on the timer dial (fooking plastic under engineered piece of tulipe!)
and 1 x very expensive heater elementHow fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't thinkComment
