My one experience of casualty, which was when Mrs Cyber Controller was suffering from a threatened miscarriage, was that they were prompt, courteous, concerned and, most importantly, efficient. 10/10 experience for me and the wife. I'm pleased to report that our little Cybermat was born healthy and well some months later.

Casualty staff by the nature of what they do sometimes have to be brusque. I admire them greatly and I'm sure I would have difficulty keeping it together when most of my evenings are spent dealing with vomit and blood covered drunks who've been brawling in the streets / falling down stairs / whatever.

most people believe the A&E department staff do a superb job in terrible conditions.

My niece is an A&E nurse and she tells me some pretty grusome stories.

However, the thread is all about the ability of a hospital to refuse treatment to a fella because he sent the some pro-life and (in the hospitals view) offensive material.

Personally, I do not think they are right to refuse treatment on these grounds - there are quite possibly doctors and surgeons working in the hospital who share equally strong pro-life views to the fella.

If he were a fecking asylum seeker who attacked the A&E staff they would bend over backwards to protect his human rights and treat him ASAP before his rights were abused (remember I said my niece is an A&E nurse and this has happened where she works)

I am planning a move to NZ too - been there 6 times and love it every time. Got a few things I need to do here first and then "bye bye UK". All part of the 5 year plan....!

Got stuck in a traffic jam heading in to Auckland in the rush hour one time. What a difference it made looking out onto the Huraki Gulf and Rangitoto or the suburbs of Remuera - beats being stuck on the M1 by Luton airport any day!!

On the hospital's side. Why should staff be expected to put up with those who abuse them? It would be unreasonable to refuse emergency treatment but they haven't.

Sodding religious anti-abortionists can sod off anyhow, it's a woman's choice and hers alone.

I did one of those online immigration points calculator things for NZ

We had enough points to consider taking application further (just) but if we leave it much longer our ages would reduce the points to a level below the current threshold.

I remember a few years ago, having proven SAP R/3 skills and work experience gave enough points to qualify for application alone.....those were the days !

100% agreed. The trust were quite within their right to withold non-emergency treatment and I would support their right to do it again. Just as I would support their right to refuse to treat an animal rights nut who emailed them abusive rubbish.

Oh now your'e being silly. Bastards who are nasty to nice little fluffy animals deserve everything they get. I am going to see a lawyer about starting divorce proceeding this week, she has only gone and put slug pellets down!

Who thought that, and why? There has never been any good reason to think that the UK upholds freedom of speech at all, never mind "strongly", as far as I can remember.
