(And definitely not to pander to the press)
However all the previous england managers have buckled under the pressure applied by the press.
Capello didn't -he was his own man. Rafa or Jose for me.

However Old rednose (fergie) does seem to have friends in the FA so maybe he could get it

Although it might sound silly but someone like Beckham although preferably someone not playing. If you look at what happened in Germany when they appointed Klinsmann, the whole structure of the team changed and younger players were bought in, in fact the whole Bundesliga (soon to make more money than the Premier League and watched in more countries) has changed due to that. The players need someone that they like and respect but who is not afraid to make radical changes. Although Klinsmann was not fully responsible for creating a good new team, that was the backroom boys, he was the one that pushed it through. But then the FA never did like change...

Well, Beckham is still playing, which makes it a bit tricky.

          Shearer?

Capello didn't bow to the press because he didn't read anything that was written about him or the team. He wasn't in the country enough to bother with things like that.

Venables to make a comeback for the short-term.

Upgrade Psycho and make it clear that he has a couple of years where he will not be judged (though the press may ignore that). Back him up with backroom staff like Shearer and Beckham.
Put a young(ish) inexperienced team in and give them some room.
              Just saying like.

Beckham is a good option. You need mafia to win a football tournament and he would bring the Scientology mafia in.

As the FA are now saying they want a British manager (not English) I think a cheeky bet on Gordon Strachan may be worth a punt. According to Wikipedia he's currently between management jobs so is available.

May as well get a jock in to manage them, England are technically not that much better than Scotland anyway, and it worked for the government with Brownstuff.

Alternatively, give Psycho the job until after the Euros, and get Beckham in to be player manager of the Olympic team that Psycho is supposed to be managing.

I'd piss my self at the former, and would quite like to see the latter. Not many managers have the passion Psycho showed in an England shirt, and as shown with Eriksson's lack of it in the tournaments, passion can sometimes make the difference. At least he'd be kicking 10 bells out of them at half time if they played like they did against Germany in the last world cup.

It's official - Harry Redknapp's applied for the job. Here's his application letter

Asked if Harry could handle the Euro's he said yes, as long as they are all used notes and un marked, his first friendly will be in the Caymen Islands
