Cherry-pick snowstorms all you like, EO. here's what NASA reported

However, we note in our Reviews of Geophysics paper that the few years just prior to 2009-2010, with low Arctic sea ice, did not produce cold winters in Europe. The cold winter of 2009-2010 was associated with the most extreme Arctic Oscillation in the period of record. Figure 3, from our paper, shows that 7 of the last 10 European winters were warmer than the 1951-1980 average winter, and 10 of the past 10 summers were warmer than climatology. The average warming of European winters is at least as large as the average warming of summers, but it is less noticeable because of the much greater variability in winter.

ok, to be fair to pj, he is now trashing the original scare mongering headlines, we might wish he had done it earlier, but hey, better late than never.

So here is another scare mongering apocalyptic load of old cobblers. A 2 degree hike in temperatures will be catastrophic for our health and only prompt action can save us.

I invite pj to trash this headline, or do we have to wait ten years then have to wring it out of him

A LEADING Australian disease expert says prompt action on climate change is paramount to our survival on Earth

My advice would be not to read the Herald Sun. Works for me. or if you must, assume it is BS until proven otherwise.

Anyhow, this thread has descended into the realms of parody....

DenialDepot: If Global Warming is true, why are there still snowstorms?

So I am calling it a day. Nice though, of BB to confirm the latest science

So lets get this straight; we can look forward to warmer, wetter periods with more droughts floods, more extreme cold, more heatwaves, more snow, mild winters, more wind and generally drier, and longer periods where the wind doesn't blow.

Interesting how the latest science waits for what happens to the climate and then suggests it's because of Global Warming. It would be far more plausible if they were predict it 10 years beforehand rather doing a complete U-Turn to fit the facts.

Theories that constantly have to be changed because they're wrong are usually bad theories.

Spiegel reports on climate scientist who in 2000 says the following:

Winter ade: Nie wieder Schnee? - SPIEGEL ONLINE - Nachrichten - Wissenschaft

"There will be no more winters with severe frost and snow as we used to get 20 years ago at our Latitude" says Climate Scientist Mojib Latif.

"nie wieder Schnee" roughly translated is "snow is a thing of the past"

                Sound familiar? .....you bet.

Oh isn't that interesting a completely different and well respected magazine reporting almost word for word the identical prediction that Dr David Viner gave from a different climate scientist.

But of course Dr David Viner was "misrepresented" he wasn't really gîving the predictions on which there was a consensus that snow was a thing of the past.

My German is a bit rusty, could you tell us the timescales that Dr Latif was talking about?

As you value his opinion, you may also be interested in this recent interview

Exclusive interview with Dr. Mojib Latif, the man who confused the NY Times and New Scientist, the man who moved George Will and math-challenged Morano to extreme disinformation | ThinkProgress
Mojib Latif in 2000 said that it was unlikely there would be any more frost or snow as there had been 20 years ago i.e. from now (2000). It is almost identical to the Dr David Viner article. The climate scientists clearly decided the 1990's was the new norm. So the journalist who reported Dr David Viner had obviously reported him accurately, because that' what they were all saying at the time.
