Banned from being on public sale, or on the way to, in Germany. Didn't read the whole article but I think that there is some substance in them which can only be prescribed by a doctor...

I love smoking and I know several other people like myself that pursue different blends of tobacco from specialist retailers where possible. I love the taste and the entire sensation. My bodies reaction to it, is just a bonus.

I disagree anyway with this point. Emotional crutches can be helpful and stabilise an individual. In a utopia, they may not be needed but some may argue we can never have a utopia. Isnt it better for someone to take enjoyment and perhaps reliance on something while being a law abiding citizen, rather than snapping under the conflicts and strain of reality?Comment

Perhaps you do, but then you are a small minority of smokers.

That may be how you want to be, although I would bet you don't even think about it.

To get back to the OP, I tried these about three years ago when they first appeared.
A lot cheaper than real tobacco, and considerably healthier - all the benefits of nicotine poisoning without coating your lungs with tar as well.
Not as effective as real tobacco, but better than patches, chewing gum, snuff, etc. You still control your dose. However, the cartridges get weaker as the concentration drops, so after the first few drags the effect fades away. You will look a bit of an idiot sucking away on the thing.
The batteries and heating elements wear out quickly. The nicotine in the fluid is very volatile, and has a short shelf life.
Non-smokers will still cough and splutter if they detect the 'smoke' anywhere near them, although nicotine will have oxidised by then, and the vapour is the same stuff that they use in discos. Some Americans say that this too is carcogenic, but presumably not as bad as vapourised tar products.
Legal to use in public enclosed spaces and stations (in England), although a lot of bars, etc don't like them anyway. You can have hours of fun ostentatiously blowing 'smoke' at CCTV cameras on stations, and ignoring the PA directives to stop at once or else...
Apropos legality, the English act bans all 'smoking materials', to stop people smoking herbal tobacco like the Irish can. Don't know if this has been tried yet, but you could get perhaps a couple of hundred of quid for a political-correctness-gone-mad story from one of the tabloids, after you've reported the local catholic church for burning incense indoors.Comment

Im on day 22 of not smoking having smoked for the last 20 odd years. Never got this far having tried many times giving up before, hypnotism, zyban, champix etc has never worked for me, though ive had some success for a few days using patches before.
This time im on the patches again but also using nicorette quickmist inhaler. Aside from having just sort of found the right moment to stop and having the right motivation im finding the inhaler is great for all those times when I just fancy a fag.
Good luck to anyone else giving up, still a long way to go for me.Comment

There will still be moments ahead where you always had a smoke before, and the first one or two of each such moment can be hard. Be prepared for it to happen, and have courage.

10 months on I still get cravings, usually at the start of a drinking session but they're gone by the time I'm into my 2nd pint and I've found my drinking legs.
One thing I did do though was change my drink of choice. Off the lagers now and on to bitter (unless the only bitter on offer is London pride)Coffee's for closersComment
