Depreciation resistant contractor's cars?

C4S has same 4x4 system as the Turbo, just no Turbo.

Could be the perfect contractor's car. Half the price of the Turbo but will probably still hold it's value quite well, and can still ensure you get to the client site when it snows.

If you're at a sensitive client and don't want to appear too flash you can get it wrapped to look like a Beetle.

That's the approach the gf's landlord used in the 1980s. He stuck an old plate on a Citroen CX so that his tenants would think he was driving something old. It worked.

One of the advantages of working in Europe is that people don't think you are a ****** if you turn up for work in a decent German saloon or estate car.

There was even a de lorean in the car park occasionally.

When I worked at Porsche I used to park the AMG in the carpark and it was one of the more 'lower' class of cars there

Doom ahead for 993 residuals

Apparently from next year there will be more biofuel mixed into the petrol and anything from grade E10 (10% bio) and above is not compatible with some older engines, including the legendary 993.

As soon as my new number plates are ready I'm going gas guzzling while I still can: "V8 FKR".

What ever happened to buying a car because it was fun? Current car does less than 15mpg, has a slightly cheap feeling interior, growls, spits, mishandles, accelerates like a rocket and is fantastic fun. Expensive to insure and has worse emissions than most top end Range Rovers. Best car I've ever had.

Plenty of time to own a Honda or a dull diesel when you are retired.

As I see it, a decent 997, 4 years old, will cost between £30k - £35k.

In the new puritanical "we're all in it together" world. The lucky few are singled out for owning enjoyable flash cars over mediocre family saloons and retribution can be regularly dished out for owning the best car in the car park.
I joined a company in 2009. When I joined there were several very expensive car in the car park. Ferrari, Porches, AMG mercs and so on. within a month or two they had all disappeared. Some of the guys were admittedly past their usefulness, however I would bet that when the order went out to reduce head count it didn't help to have an Audi R8 build options & price list on your desk...

I have opted to replace my poor old Saab with a late model 5.5 liter SL500. Its not as in your face as the AMG, gives good ride quality and cruising speed, and with a private plate can look worth anything from £10 to £40k.
Really fancied a DB9 but having to park it round the corner, or drive a golf for a daily driver is a waste of time...
