Sad to report that my ward as usual returned three up their own arse dickheads, the self-styled "Independent Residents Association" (independent in as much as they rarely turn up to council meetings and when they do they vote Labour). Still, it went from Labour control to no overall control with Tories having the highest number of seats so not all is lost. Just infuriating that were it not for those "independents" it would have been a firm Tory gain for the first time in 16 years.

The local Tories didn't really help themself by choosing one prospective councillor for my ward who looked like a serial child sex offender.

People like BNP prosper in times of extreme hardship. What the "never had it so good" brigade fail to realise is that nothing stands still. Just because times are good they are not good for everyone. The immigration problems are always dumped upon the poor, it is they who have to share their housing estates, schools and hospitals with immigrants NOT the socialists who's policies encourage them to come here.

I quite agree. The trendy well off middle class intellectuals who go to Brick Lane for a curry do not lose from immigrants competing for jobs and housing.
