I suppose BBC's tax is not that bad afterall - they don't seem to kiss Govts arse, which is worthy regardless who is in power.

Well they did kiss arse big time when liebour went into power. And after the public reprimand of the heavily biased Hutton report and a management change, they definitely became the governments propaganda mouthpiece.

What is interesting though, is in the last few months they have been quite bold in criticising liebour. I think it is much to do with the old principle of smelling blood of an injured animal and the fact that they are constantly sidelined in any liebour propaganda "meet the public" stunt.

A lot probably got to do that NL, as any dominant party in power for long time, grown arrogant and started making big mistakes: BBC sure smells blood, but this blood did not come from BBC hits, NL self-inflicted it. Brown is an interesting card to play - if he is as good in actual public politics (I'd say he is not now sinnce he is very quiet and stick to like technical adminrole) as he is in steath taxes then you or we even may have NL for another decade.

Yes I agree. Brown has already cleverly distanced himself from last weeks shenanigans and has kept up the pretence of a sound economy (remember the time he was pulled in front of the committee for ??? (can’t remember) and he simply played sleight of hand over the vastness of his tax rules.

Brown has a keen team backing him but lacks Bliar’s delivery and oratorical skills.

Forgetting PFIs that have been left off UK plc's balance books, personal debt has moved into realms that we never believed, equity in housing ownership have buoyed a sluggish economy, etc

Anytime someone criticises liebour on the economy, they respond with a pre-programmed soundbite saying that the Tories and Black Wednesday caused millions of people to lose their homes because interest rates went up to 15% for ages…

Liebour has used the economy as a baseball bat to the Torie’s Black Wednesday when interest rates went up to 15% as they pulled out of the ERM.

What people forget is the fact that one Gordon Brown lambasted the Tories for not going into the ERM quick enough (he was a major promoter) and that interest rates climbed to 15% for a short period of time, and not years as liebour would like you to believe.

However, like most things liebour, they have been extremely effective in marketing bad Tory thoughts to the nation through the media until there is an association.

Things like immigration: look at Mike Howard last year – slated regardless that the fact if he said it now, people would listen to it. Instead, branding anyone a racist for mentioning the I word due to Orwellian conditioning, we have 12 BNP councillors – thanks a **** liebour!!!!!

Brown has inherited a bad legacy. Good. Hopefully, he will have no credibility in either the economy or the confidence of the electorate and will simply be a stymied “leader”.

Aye, he is going to get it from twin barrels during PM Questions Time which I personally find very amusing to watch, perhaps I am just turning into real saddo...

The funny thing about economy is that its cylical and if you get into right cycle then you would have to be real retard to screw it up, Gordon is not retard, he just knows how to tax sneakily and juggle figures around - this makes him good Chancellor that any PM would want, but I just can't see him being successful PM - this is probably best chance for Cons, which is why they really try to bait him into action, but so far it seems that results are not bad enough for Blair to leave now so he will hang on for some years, perhaps even until the time when I get to vote.

Yes the economy is cyclical... liebour rode the last economic boom inherited from the Tories quite well without doing anything. They changed nothing initially until the 66+ stealth taxes kicked in, selling the gold at the bottom of the market by even announcing he was going to sell, and virtually taxing our pensions for £5b/year compounded and reverting them from 1st rate to third world... plus the world's most complicated tax system that has failed to deliver, in their chosen PC words, a fair distribution of wealth to those not prepared to work for it.

The problem is that Gordon is portrayed as a world class wealth deliverer - when that is so obviously non-existant, he will have no power base and will disappear... the question we need to ask is this: can A (for former alcoholic) Campbell continue the necessary spin for people to vote him in?
