Congrats, I got offered 3 contracts all 50% increase on my last rate and offered an extension till 31/12/2040



then I woke up and realised I am on the bench in 1000 days.

I got a 3 month extension today, and a nice 20% rate increase.

20% is a good increase. Were you on a poor rate to start with, a great negotiator, or genuinely wanting to leave when they needed you most?

Poor rate to start with unfortunately - it was only supposed to be an 8 week gig, or I wouldn't have considered it. Am in the fortunate position of having a reasonable warchest, so was quite prepared to walk. They did squeal a lot though, and I don't know how many times over the last two weeks I've heard the word 'recession'!
