Got asked once at an interview- "What is the most important protective device on a high pressure reciprocating compressor?". The answer I gave to him was spot on, but I could tell from the blokes face that he hadn't thought of it! I asked him after I answered what he thought the answer was, he told me and I knew there and then that I hadn't got the job. The things is, I would bet that he now has his compressors set up the exact way I said! Ho hum.

              The off switch.

The off switch on the other side of the 3.5 tonnes of heavy steel plate.

I know this one; the most important safety device when using a reciprocating Shirley is a rubber jonny.

I like this game; give an answer and sooner or later the right question will come along.

Ah, but then you're not ' using a receprocating Shirley', so solution is not valid.
