Apparently, it was due to a failed upgrade on a core switch wasnt it?

As someone who works in the comms industry and has spent years and years dealing with large networks like this, I cant understand how anyone would ever attempt an upgrade without even knowing there was a way out if it all went tits up!!!! Always assume the worse. Amateur mistake indeed.

Apparently, the backup switch fell over as well. Reading between the lines - wasnt working in the first place/no-one ever tested it. Also, still dont understand why their network hadnt got resilience/fault tolerance to route traffic past a failed switch AS WELL.....

I gather Yahoo recently outsourced several of their groups to Bangalore, including mail, and their web email app has quite often been AWOL or insufferably slow over the last few months.

Thanks.. that explains an awful lot of the problems I've been seeing with yahoo mail recently & why their touted new & improved email client is a pile of poo
